Currently courses are suspended due to Covid 19 however, as a result of the latest HSE statement, we are now considering resuming courses in September pending further updates.

Stay safe and well

LATEST NEWS 22/06/2020

latest information is still that we should not be conducting face to face training yet despite the government announcement that the threat level for Covid 19 has now been dropped to level 3.

Originally we were told training, other than absolutely essential training, should not happen until the drop to level 3 however there are still many concerns and the HSE suspended all their face to face training only last week due to concerns about the risk level.

St Johns Ambulance have also deferred any training until August having previously said they would start in June and then July.

Any training conducted now is fraught with problems due to the necessity of including 2 metre distancing in what is essentially a physically interactive course.

This is difficult to achieve in many venues and public venues are not yet available for hire to conduct courses so I do not intend to start training again until we are further out of lockdown and more businesses are open with no ill effects. If the recent progress continues with no adverse effects then I envisage it may be possible to start to schedule training from the end of July/ beginning of August and certainly by September. This will be subject to the continued recovery from Covid 19.

All certificates have an extended validity to the 30th September however I would advise candidates who have had to postpone their training to study their previous course manuals to refresh their knowledge.

Stay safe Kerry

NEWS 23/05/2020

Following on from the earlier post, with regards to the return to First Aid training, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) have announced that all Learners who expired on or after the 16th March 2020 will have their certificate expiry date extended until the 30th September 2020 to aid employers in meeting their legal responsibilities during this time.

The HSE expect all persons in England to be requalified by the 30th September and any Learner who has not achieved this will expire on the 1st October.

The HSE understands that this deadline may be difficult to achieve for Learners in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland due to their extended lockdown measures and will review this over the coming weeks for these nations.

Important announcement. 21/05/2020

The HSE and Awarding Bodies have had discussions on when and how face to face training can safely be resumed, the results of those meetings and detailed guidance is due soon, possibly this week.

We at Coldwell Training wish to reassure customers that we will not be resuming courses until it is safe to do so for the benefit of all customers and trainers as they travel from venue to venue.

Our view is that it is unlikely to be safe to resume training until the end of July or possibly September. Everyone needs time to settle back into more normal routines without the chance of further spikes in the incidence of the virus, before we start public courses. We may start in house courses once it is clear that the lock down has lifted and schools are open to no ill effect. Please contact us by email to let us know your likely requirements once training is resumed.

These are strange unprecedented times and we hope you are all managing to stay safe and well. Hopefully we are through the worst now.

Our condolences and best wishes go out to any of our customers who have family and/or friends who have been badly affected by this virus.

Schools & Nurseries may need to review their medication policy in light of recent information. Doctors are being advised by their government advisory body not to write prescriptions for OTC meds.

MHRA licenses all medicines and classifies them as OTC when it considers it safe and appropriate that they may be used without a prescription.

It is appropriate therefore for OTC medicines to be given, or authorised, by parents when they consider it necessary. This may be in a home or nursery or school environment.

LMC’s who advise GP’s would therefore consider it a misuse of GP time to provide an appointment for a child with the sole purpose of acquiring a prescription for an OTC medicine, to satisfy the ruling of a nursery or school.
